I hope everyone is monitoring local news and following the CDC guidelines designed to lessen the spread of COVID-19.
The county party is working to ensure that first and foremost, everyone stays safe and calm for the foreseeable future. As you know, I cancelled last week’s EC Meeting due to the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19 and those meetings fall well under the group meeting guideline of 250 that some localities are currently following.
I am meeting with the WCDP Leadership Team this weekend to discuss our plans for selecting delegates to send to the State Convention. Obviously, the health and safety of EVERYONE come first. We will not be gathering in Taylor as originally planned and are currently developing a new plan that I will share no later than Sunday night.
If you’re still interested in being a delegate for the State Convention scheduled for June 4-6, please register at 2020.texasdemocrats.org.
In addition to discussing the County Convention, I will also be recommending drastic changes to our upcoming calendar of events throughout the Spring as well as closing our office temporarily.
Please know that party business is still being conducted and that the Primary Vote was officially canvassed yesterday by our Elections Administrator Jose Orta and myself.
Yesterday, a friend ended her email with “no panic, just facts, stay safe.” I think we should all follow her wise advice. Wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and please stay home if you are stick.
