Williamson County, TX // Due to the rapidly evolving situation regarding the spread of COVID-19, the Williamson County Democratic Convention will conduct the necessary responsibilities to meet the Texas State Law through guidelines allowed by the State Party.

Original plans to meet in Taylor on March 21 have been modified. The Nominations Committee, Convention Secretary, and County Chair will be meeting at the WCDP Office, 1915 S. Austin Avenue, Suite 102, Georgetown, on March 21st from 9am-12pm to ensure that the selection of the county’s delegation to the state convention adheres to state rules. Delegates will be selected from online registrations made through the Texas Democratic Party.

The resolutions process will also be conducted online and all county resolutions will be forwarded to the State Convention’s Temporary Resolutions Committee for consideration by the State Convention.

This modified operation accomplishes the need to adhere to CDC guidelines established to discourage large gatherings, as well as ensures that WilCo Democrats will meet our responsibilities to the party and community at large.

Statement from Party Chair Kim Gilby:

Our Convention Planning Committee has been hard at work for months in order to make our 2020 County Convention the best ever! Yes, we are all disappointed, but ultimately, during the spread of COVID-19, the well-being of our county’s residents is far more important.
